I look around at the people around me
The nonbelievers, in my own family
I hurt inside for their ignorance

When I try to spread the word
They brush it off with a smug laugh
Like they have all they need
And it will always last

But when something bad happens
I see them looking for something better

And tell them the glorious story again

This time they listen

I smile and laugh with glee
Remembering the lesson I’d learned in the past:

We are sweetly broken
Under His watchful eye
So that we can go on
And finally see, know the truth
When we look to the sky

False Abandonment

I remember how I used to feel
Lying, curled up, dark pain spreading inside me
Tears raking my body
Sadness taking over like it will never leave
Filled with hopelessness
Feeling abandoned
And I don’t know why I ever did.
Things got bad, but not bad enough
For the way I felt
I’m happy that I’m better now
Better, not because of any stupid shrinks
People paid to pretend to care about your problems
Then tell everyone about them, illicitly
No, that didn’t help dull the pain
Instead I offered it up
And had it taken away
By the most powerful being in the universe,
Who loves me,
And I know He will always stay

My Feeling

Sometimes I feel this feeling
Especially when I’m alone
A gnawing emptiness
Seeping through my bones

It harbors in my stomach
Finding a home there
And I look out to find
That no one’s out there

But I look closer and see past my fears
I find it, grasp hold
Keep it inside me to warm up the cold
I then go out…amongst my peers

And find someone with which this miracle I can share
Sometimes people listen
But most of the time they don’t
But when they do…
I can see the Father, through them move
